What is corrosion?
Any action that changes the chemical or physical structure of materials and structures. Metal, plastic, rubber, paper, paint, etc. are all affected. Rust, oxidation, mold, mildew are all forms of corrosion.

How does Intercept work? Why is it so different?
Intercept works 4 ways to stop corrosion:
1. It acts as a very efficient reactive barrier to gases trying to migrate into the closed container or bag. The gases that cause corrosion are all reactive and they will react with, and be permanently neutralized by, the Intercept material.
2. Intercept cleanses trapped air within a sealed or closed environment, and within hours the inside environment is
free from corrosive gases.
3. Intercept protects against molds and mildews which cannot grow in direct contact with Copper.
4. Static Intercept helps protect against galvanic corrosion by being a very effective electrical shunt. Static Intercept “turns on” electrically at .7 volts.

How is Intercept made?
A highly reactive Copper is reacted into a polymer structure. The copper is chemically bonded into the plastic so that it cannot move or agglomerate. The copper allows the plastic to act like a solid sheet of high surface area, highly reactive copper. In simplest terms, it allows plastic to act like a copper sheet. It’s the only material on the market today that has these properties and delivers the best protection available.

Does Intercept meet cleanroom standards?
Intercept products meet or exceed Cleanroom 100 standards.

Is Intercept RoHS compliant?
Yes. Intercept Technology is completely RoHS compliant, the only corrosion protection product that is so designated.

What Intercept product is best for electronics?
Static Intercept, RIBS MVTR, Intercept Shrink Film, Intercept Totes, all offer superb protection for complex electronics.

What does long-term storage mean?
Long-term storage refers to any product or asset that will be sitting in a warehouse, on a ship, or in storage for 2 months or longer. Products in long-term storage require a different level of protection to be safe.

How will I know if Intercept is still protecting?

Intercept products have built-in color changes to reflect when the protection is fading.

Does Intercept need to be heat sealed?
All Intercept products accept and hold heat sealing application, but it is not necessary. Simply fold over 2 times and seal with tape.

How do I know if my current product is recyclable?
Only Intercept products are fully recyclable. They can be recycled as a normal colored plastic.

How do I tell if my current barrier material is beyond its effectiveness date?
Virtually all barrier material on the market today have a shelf life of 18 months or less from the date of manufacture. Intercept products have no shelf life. Their superior level of protection remains intact.
